C. aclandiae

I have such a passion for spotted cattleya, and species orchid Cattleya aclandiae is no exception.  Just look at those spots and that gorgeous lip.  WOW.. Wish mine would bloom again!

 

The plant is quite teeny, even when mature, and new growth often has dark purple spots and stripes!   I spent a couple days this summer mounting them on little pieces of bark.  They look GREAT and I’ve been told that they prefer to be mounted instead of being in pots!
